Spiders and family

Not to be unfair, I have to give arachnids their own page. They are NOT insects, which is what many people wrongly think!

At work

In just two to three hours, a spiderweb is completed. Planning, engineering, and material procurement is included.

Wet net

Light mist wetted this net, making it beautifully visible to the camera. My enthusiasm probably wasn't shared by the spider, who has to go hungry, since the water makes the web visible to potential meals too!

Tarantula

Known also as bird spider or chicken spider, it can grow bigger than a man's hand. It's quite common over much of Chile. Some people keep them as pets.

Scorpion

This is an animal you should better not caress too much. Note the droplet of venom at the sting!
