Homes

Traditional country house

Very nice - but I would not like to be the one having to clean those windows!

Palafitos

The Chiloé archipelago has many traditions that are not shared by the rest of Chile. One of them are these homes. The only reasonable transport among the many islands are boats, and so it's convenient to be build houses this way. The boats can be parked right below. The front side of the houses look perfectly normal and face the coastal street.

My sister's first house

A fisheye view from the kitchen door.

McDonnell-Douglas house

This is a home too! This plane was forced to an emergency landing in a swampy, then uninhabited area, and was never retrieved. Years later a colonist used it as safe, weather-resistant and well-insulated home! Even a stove was installed, chimney and all!
